Ukraine Drones Strike Russian Oil Terminals, Killing One

(MENAFN) A Ukrainian drone assault ignited a fire and killed one person at a sea terminal in Russia's Temryuk port Saturday, with strikes also hitting energy infrastructure in the Volgograd region in what appeared to be a coordinated overnight campaign targeting Russian oil and gas assets.

Krasnodar regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed the death and said three additional people were wounded in the overnight strikes across the southern region. "Emergency and special services continue to work at the scene" to extinguish the fire at the sea terminal, he said.

Ukraine's Security Service claimed responsibility for the Temryuk strike, asserting that its forces had hit the Tamanneftogaz oil and gas terminal in Krasnodar. According to the agency, drones struck five storage tanks containing petroleum products within the tank farm, along with two oil loading stands at the terminal. Ukrainian authorities characterized the facility as the largest liquefied hydrocarbon transshipment complex in southern Russia.

Hundreds of kilometers to the north, a second front of the drone campaign unfolded in Russia's Volgograd region, where falling drone debris triggered a fire at industrial infrastructure, according to the regional administration, citing Governor Andrei Bocharov in a Telegram post.

Ukraine's General Staff claimed its forces had struck an oil infrastructure facility near the town of Kotovo in Volgograd, stating in a Telegram post that an oil treatment and pumping station had been hit and set ablaze.

"The facility provides preparation, transportation, and pumping of oil through main pipelines to oil refineries and export infrastructure of the Russian Federation," the statement said.

All claims could not be independently verified due to the ongoing war.
